What I Like Most About the Christmas Holiday

My favorite part about Christmas is how everyone is so happy and giving. Christmas just puts people in a 'jolly' mood. I love seeing the decorations in the stores, looking at the Christmas lights on peoples houses, and the smell of peppermint in the air. Plus it's cold, which is always exciting because I live in Arizona so everyone gets crazy when it rains or gets cold. Which also lets girls wear their adorable boots! On the contrary, the holiday is entirely surrounded by the idea of being happy and caring. So who wouldn't love a holiday with only good intentions.

Journal Entry

Yesterday I got picked up early so I didn't have to finish spanish class! No espanol for me. Yes, it is sad that that was the highlight of my day. Anyways, it was pretty much the same old, same old. Had homework, procastinated about an hour before I eventually did it. And, yeah. That's pretty much it.

Final

I haven't actually shot any footage for my final yet. But I have everything planned out. I'm just having some technical issues with timing and all. The plot of my movie is two children are being baby-sat and they end up escaping the house and take the car out for a stroll.

My Storyboard

My storyboard is finished. I haven't done my script yet because other than a couple baby gurgling noises and a few lines it's mostly a silent film. So I'm not to sure how to really do that part or if it's even neccessary. But other than that everything is fine.

Scene in Final

One of the scenes in my final for Media Productions is after the car accident I'm going to end the movie with a close up of glass shattered on the floor while the camera is on the ground. The car will be flipped over in the background.

Green Screen Assignment

The green screen assigment was well explained so it wasn't very hard to do. It was quite fun actually. I learned how to take take the background off the video and insert a new one. And merge to videos together. As well as how to use the Chroma Key. I would say it was a pretty productive week.

Last Time I Did Something Nice For Someone

The last time I did something nice for someone was yesterday when I went to my friends dance performance she was in to support her. I went and watched the show, even though it was five dollars to get in. It was worth it though because it made her happy and the show was amazing. She's a great dancer. I love you Cynthia!!!!!

Journal Entry

Yesterday I went to my little brothers wrestling match at Desert Sky Middle School. My mom and I were there for like two and a half hours. It felt like forever. But it was pretty funny. Some of those kids are really fierce though. Others not so much... Over all it was good. After that we went home and I had four pages of spanish homework to do.  That wasn't fun. To top it off I had a major headache the entire time.

Favorite Christmas Memory

My favorite Christmas memory was two years ago when I got a computer and a DSi XL and a lot of other stuff. But that's not what made that Christmas special. Usually we don't have the money to go all out on gifts like that. My mom has five kids, so that adds up really quick, money wise. But that Christmas she was so happy because she could somehow miraculously afford to have a really wonderful Christmas. It was full of smiles and joy. Everyone was happy whether it be from the happiness of seeing the child you gave a gift to just light up with excitement, or from receiving the gift.

Thanksgiving Break

The four days we had off for Thanksgiving break was amazing. No school, so it was bound to be great. We did an awful lot of Christmas things this weekend though. But we did have Thanksgiving. I guess because it's just 29 more days until 'It's the most wonderful time of the year'. But that's okay because I love Christmas. It's my favorite holiday.

Thanksgiving Plans

My family and I had Thanksgiving on Wednesday, so we aren't doing anything on the actual day of Thanksgiving.

What Are You Thankful For?

I know I don't show it as much as I should, but I am very thankful for my mom. She means everything to me and I wouldn't be nearly as far as I am in life without her by my side every step of the way. I don't know what I would do without her.

Well, yesterday was Sunday. And I had a ton of homework (Which I didn't do) so I didn't get to watch The Walking Dead. Total bummer. So yeah... It wasn't that great.

Journal Entry

Yesterday my mom got a baby chihuahua. It's so cute and tiny! So that's practically what I did all day was just stare at it because it is adorable. Then I ended up not doing my math homework. But it was worth it.

Yesterday the new One Direction cd came out. But I didn't get it because my mom is poor. Boo for me. So I was sad; very sad. Goodbye.

Journal Entry

Yesterday was Monday, but we didn't have school so I kept thinking it was Sunday. And The Walking Dead is on Sunday, so I kept thinking the new episode was on that night but it wasn't so I was sad. Yeah, that's what happened yesterday in my majestical life.

Favorite Class

My favorite class is math. Don't ask because I don't know why, it just is. But the most useful class to my career path would probably be science since I plan on working in the medical field.

Election Results

I wasn't to happy with the election results. Although I had prepared myself for dissapointment because I had no interest in either candidates, one of them had to win. Personally if I had to pick a lesser of the two evils it would've been Obama. So, not too ecstatic about the results but over all pleased that Romney isn't our new president. That's just my opinion on the subject.

If I Could Vote

I I could legally vote for president today, I would choose a lower candidate. I have no interest in voting for either Obama nor Romney.

Deer Valley High School

Deer Valley High School is the home of the Skyhawks. The goals of this school is to develop students with healthy and responsible mindsets so they are ready for the real world. Our school also supports dual enrollment classes so you can get on the path to your career faster and more efficiently. DVHS is a fantastic school; the staff is excellent and they truly care about meeting our (the students) needs. I personally am very happy being enrolled here. I have all the room I need to grow into a happy and successful young adult. I recommend looking into the school to see if it is right for you as well.

Movie Assignment

My movie assignment is going to be about a guy who is walking down the street and sees this really pretty woman. He thinks it's love at first sight, so he tries to approach her to talk to her but she doesn't see him and keeps walking to her destination. The man is running past people and tripping trying to reach the lady. At the end when he finally gets to her at a stop light, he says hello and she turns around to actually just be a guy with long hair. The man who was chasing 'her' gets a bewildered look on his face and the 'woman' walks away leaving the man without a clue where he's at. (still with the bewildered look on his face.)

Favorite Actor

My favorite actor would probably be Adam Sandler. He's played in Bedtime Stories, 50 First Dates, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, Click etc. I like him because he always gets the funny parts in movies and he's hilarious. The movies he's in usually come out really good too.

I can never choose. It's so difficult. They're both great films, so why have to chose? That's the way I see it. Any who, go Iron Man and Alice Cullen!!!!

Where Do You Get your Belief System?

I don't really have a "religion". My entire family is christian, but I don't really follow them. I guess you could call me an atheist; but I don't like to be catergorized. I used to go to church, and I have been baptized but as I grew up I started to second guess the entire religion. I couldn't put so much faith and dedication into something I didn't enitrely believe in. So I didn't. And that's where I am to this day.

TED Talk

1) Title: Frans de Waal: Moral behavior in animals
2) The speaker is a man born in Den Bosch by the name of Frans de Waal. He is inspired by a painter named Hieronymus Bosch. He is also quite fond of Chimpanzee's and has wrote a book called 'Chimpanzee Politics'
3) Frans de Waal believes there is an evolved mortality in animals of empathy & consolation, prosocial tendencies, and reciprocity & fairness. This suggestion has been through a series of tests which are video taped and played throughout the presentation. The tests include primates such as elephants, chimpanzees, apes, and other monkeys. The experiments indicate that the primates do indeed have a sense of all these traits. Some scientists have disagreed with this conclusion but Frans de Waal is set on his beliefs. The point of this talk though is to compare how similar characteristics we have to primates; And how they have quite a complex understanding as we do. Though they might not be advanced as us now. But there is not telling how far they will come to us in the future. They already have displayed how they can work together, reconcile after a fight, and show empathy. These creatures really are quite intelligent.
4) I thought the talk was really interesting. I'm amazed at how understanding these primates are. They really should get more credit than they receive. It's shocking to see the traits we share with them. Even more shocking to see how sometimes they are far more fair and caring than us. They are brilliant creatures that have a far more advanced understanding than just the will to survive. The presentation was very informational yet interesting at the same time. Well done Frans de Waal.

The past twenty-four hours of awesome life (not) I was happily babysitting my wondeful siblings. Can you tell there's sarcasm in that sentence? So, while everyone was out having fun at homecoming I was stuck at home with a 12 year old, a 10 year old, a 6 year old, and a 2 year old. Good times. Good times... I think I'm done here.

Propaganda

Propaganda is a catergory in which there are many types of ways to influence ones opinion. One example of propaganda is bandwagon. Bandwagon is a technique that enforces the 'everyone else is doing it' attitude, to get a person or a group of people to agree with the topic at hand.

Equality

Do I believe everyone should be equal? That's a bit of a broad catergory. Equality is a trait that I personally believe in. So of course I do think that everyone should be treated equal. We are all human, are we not? And as humans we all are entitled to certain things. It just isn't right to discriminate against someone because they may be different. When in reality none of us are the same, so we are all different in a way. What makes someone so special as to decide what another may or may not do based on their looks, race, religion, etc. There is nothing worthy enough to say; You simply cannot justify it.

Presidential Debate

I did not watch the presidential debate because I had better things to do than watch two morons argue over who is better for this country. I peronally believe that neither should be president, but what does a 14 year old get to say about elections? Nothing, that's right.

Banner Assignment Reflection

I really enjoyed creating this assignment. I liked how independent the project was, and how it wasn't an exact replica we needed to create. We really got to put our creativity into it. However, I didn't like how you gave speeches and made us stop working during class. This really took some time from my project. But what really bothers me the most, is your grading. It really confuses me. Do you fail us on purpose to show us how to deal with disappointment? Even if we did good? In the most polite way possible, I would just like to know why you don't grade like other teachers, or of how hard we tried. On the contrary, I thought your teaching skills were very good and thorough when we were learning how to use photoshop (eg: Masking, Layers, Font, Picture Adjustments, Etc.)

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Journal Entry

Well, I just realized that these journal entries that make us write about the past 24 hours of our life, do in fact include the time I spent yesterday for blogging in this class. Pretty smart thinking isn't it? Our topic yesterday was 'How do you deal with disappointment?' I personally wasn't to fond of sharing my copin skills with everybody on the internet, but you got to do what you go to do. Well that's it for now. Bye!

Monday, September 24, 2012

Dealing With Disappointment

I try to not have to high of expectations when it comes to other people. I've learned that high expectations do usually end up with disappointment, so is not the same as setting yourself up for failure? I do believe it is. But when I am let down, I just try to let it go. That's life, and we just have to accept it the way it chooses to treat us.

    Difficult Issues

When I have a difficult issue, I tend to ignore it or them as much as I possibly can. I tend to levae them unresolved and push them to the back of my head. So, I guess you could say I don't 'deal' with difficult issues.

    Phoenix to Cali

Let's see... The last trip I went on that was outside of Phoenix was when me and my family just drove to the beach in California for a day. We left early morning, drove to the beach, stayed there for like 8 hours (All day) and drove back home. It was really fun. It was the first time my baby sister had ever been to the beach; And we sat in the sand and watched seals sunbathe on rocks in the sea. But I got a really sad sunburn. I guess I should've brought sunscreen. Oh well.

    Memories of 9/11

On September 11th of 2001, a horrific tragedy struck America. On this very day the twin towers in the World Trade Center located in New York were hit by two hijacked planes by terrorists. It is to believe that Osama Bin Laden is the main source of this attack. Many people died this day in history. Not to mention all the people who risked their lives to help to wounded. Unfortuanetly no matter the efforts given there wasn't much that could be done to preserve the towers.

    Clone Stamp

If you are fimiliar with photoshop, you should know the 'clone stamp' tool. This tool is vital for distorting pictures while keeping them realistic. All you do is click on the 'stamp' icon on your left side of the screen. Once selected, right click on it again and a list will pop up. Then you can select a setting and begin cloning sections of your image and moving to other areas.

My last twenty-four hours.... Hmmm. Well I'd have to say the last day has been quite more interesting than my avergae day. First I had like three pages of Geometry homework. (Not fun!) Then after I finished that I watched the VMA awards on live television. It was amazing!!! One Direction won two awards for Best Becoming Artist and Best Pop Video. Beating Justin Bieber and Rihanna on both occasions. I was so proud as they also performed their hit song 'What Makes You Beautiful'  at the VMA's as well. It was a very engaging performance.

    Ted Talk Nathan Myhrvold

1.) I listened to Nathan Myhrvold on archeology, animal photography, BBQ...
2.) Well the entire talk was about the speaker (Nathan Myhrvold) and what he does for a living. Bsaically he is a rich man with a jack of all trades. He does everything. Well almost. He's a genius with Microsoft. As he worked with them as a Chief Technology Officer in 1999. He is a world barbeque champion due to a special cooker he built. He even found major archeological finds such as the T-Rex skeleton. He travels and takes photos of wildlife which he has recieved rewards for. And he is just starting his interest in new cooking techniques. The man has a wide variety of hobbies.
3.) The talk was explianing all the things that Nathan Myhrvold does and why he loves them so much. He follow his dreams whereverf ever they lead him.
4.) The talk kind of inspired me because he proved he could really do anything he wanted to do if he put his mind to it. And he sure did! It just comes to show that you have the power to do anything, no matter how big your dreams may be. And pursuing them brings much happiness.

    Discipline

Discipline can come in many forms. Two of the most basic forms however are self-discipline and discipline from others such as teachers, parents/guardians etc. Discipline as a minor plays a very important role in your life as an adult. As a child you are disciplined so you know how to act like an adult and do the right thing. Like being responsible. If you are not disciplined you may  find yoursel in troube later on down the road. It could be trouble with a boss, a partner, or even trouble with the law. It is really important to obey your parents so you do end up making the right choice.

    Ted Review

    http://www.ted.com/talks/jane_mcgonigal_the_game_that_can_give_you_10_extra_years_of_life.html
    A) Jane McGonial. She is a game designer, who had previously spent 3 months in bed wishing she was dead. Now Prior to this she had hit her head which resulted in an concussion. To better herself and get rid of her suicidal thoughts she designed the game SuperBetter.
    B) The talk is about, how much games can change our lives. The particular game she developed will actually prolong your life! And she explains how in the presentation. All the factors that have to do with our mood, our physical being, and our mood.
    C) I thought the talk was very inspiring. How she overcame this, with not the game, but creating the game. And how when she was at her lowest, she din't give up. She tried to help herself. And in doing so she creating a path for others to gain on as well. All the lives she changed by just staying strong. She definitely  changed my process of thinking. 'Why would I stay down when I can pick myself up and prolong a happy well lived life?' Theres no reasonable explination not to. So why not?
    D) I think I will try this game out. It obviously works so I have nothing to lose. Only time to gain...

    My Weekend

My weekend was alright. Not really... But it did start out quite well. On Friday I went to an Arbonne meeting with my mom. If you didn't know Arbonne, is a Pure, Natural, Beneficial product that is designed to benifit you entirely. It's a very good product. I personally use it myself. (If you are interested in it, comment below.) And then on Saturday I got sick. :( So I slept the next two days...

    New Rule

If I were in charge of the school, I would make homework not allowed. Teachers are not allowed to give out homework EVER; Under any circumstance. If a teacher gives out homework they will be immediately fired. Upon proof  of the assignment. I would change this because I have SO much homework and not enough tim to do it. Some teachers just don't understand that I have more than one class and if they all give me homework, that adds up quick.

So, my favorite band of all time would have to be One Direction. If you don't know who they are then you live under a rock... So, as we all know Obama is our current president. But that might not be the case for much longer; With elections coming up soon. My personal thoughts on the subject is that Obama should not be re-elected. I think he has done enough damage to the country. If I could legally vote it would be for Romney. His main focus as president would be to restore our country to a pure place. The country we all know and love; America, the land of the free. It's going to take alot of work with much of the population thinking that we are discriminating Obama because of his color. Which through my eyes is obviously not the case. I just believe he is not fit to be president for our country, and we need to think about the best options for everyone who lives here.

    Cross Walks

So, yesterday I was almost late for school. But, I was only late because I had to walk to school. And maybe because I slept in an hour... But anyways... Not the point of the story right? Alright, so I'm walking, minding my own business. I get to the cross walk and start to cross the street. As I'm walking this lady decides she doesn't want to stop her car. I'm walking in front of her car, and she just keeps going! The light was even red so it makes her look even worse. This chick almost ran me over!! I turn to her and she just waves me on to keep walking. No apologetic look or anything! I swear, stuff almost went down in the middle of the street. She was lucky I was running late... -___- And, just to let you all know, I DID get to school without getting run over. So; Yay for me?? :D

(And remember kids, look both ways before crossing the street! xD)

    My typical day.

Yesterday was a typical average day; Well for me at least. I wake up, blah blah blah, (Fast foward a bit) And I'm out of school. So since there are so many people that get picked after school, I decided to meet my parents across the street to pick me up. I get home and sit down to do my spanish homework. I can't concentrate though because my little brother is playing Just Dance 2 in the living room. It's not that easy trying to learn spanish while Kesha is on replay... So I finally give up, and go on my computer. And yeah, that's practically how most of my day went.

    High School

           So,  I started high school two days ago. Fun. I mean who doesn't love getting up at 6 am to go learn? (Hence the sarcasm) (; But, you know other than that, it's been pretty cool. My favorite part about the past two days though, is when school was out, and I couldn't find my way out of the building. -___- It was like being stuck in a corn maze... Without the corn.... So just a maze... Either way I was still wandering the walls for at least 5 minutes. But obviously I made it out, since I'm sitting here blogging... So I guess the moral of this blog is, if your going to highschool, bring a GPS. Have a great day guys! (;
